The simple caption ‘look at this absolute unit’ alongside a photograph of an Exmoor horn ram belonging to G.F. Thorne, a farmer from Simonsbath, Somerset shot both the ram and our small University museum in Reading, UK to fame across the twitterverse and beyond.
Visitors from near and far still make the pilgrimage to see the unassuming photograph that started it all, and now this iconic sheep is featured on a range of products.
